Sci-Tech Discovery Center

At the end of February Mimi came to visit and we went to the Sci-Tech Discovery Center.  They had changed things since we were there a couple of months ago and Ryan was disappointed that they had taken out the submarine.  BUT he did find some new things that he liked . . .

AND THE OTHER BIT HIT . . . BUBBLES!
Mimi was the expert big bubble maker!

New Favorite Spot

Now that Ryan likes inflatables, it gives us more options of indoor places that we can go play when the weather isn't good.  This is a place that we tried out a couple of weeks ago with his friends from church and school.  They had an indoor train which he LOVED.  He got to ride it as many times as he wanted.  They also had a bunch of inflatables.  He loved the jungle maze, the pirate ship, the spaceship with the really tall slide and the bounce house.  He now asks to go here frequently.

Puppets

Ryan has been into playing with puppets lately.  At home, he has little finger puppets that he likes to play with.  However, at the library they have BIG puppets and he always wants to put on a puppet show.  On this particular day we went to the library to listen to the local high school's steel drum band (which he loved), but he also spent a great deal of time putting on a show of his own.

Getting Braver

We frequently go to a gymnastics place that has a lot of fun things.  They have a fun foam pit, trampolines, balance beams and several inflatables.  Every time we would go Ryan would play on the other equipment, but avoid the inflatables.  We went again a few weeks ago a birthday party and he had such a blast sliding down the slides.

Science and Art

Science and art are two of Ryan's favorite things.  So, I thought that he would like the science/art experiment where you make your own puffy paint.  He did.

First you mix everything together.

Looked kind of gross!

After mixing it together you "paint" with it on a piece of cardboard and then put it in the microwave.  He microwave dries it out and makes it puff up.
