From Goop to Gak

Here is what our Goop looked like this morning -- dried green cake

I think he liked crumbling up the dried green goop better than he liked playing in the liquid/solid stuff!

"Look Mom, no mess on my hands!"

Then it was time to make Gak -- glue, water and borax.

Dissolving the borax in water -- not too impressed.

Adding glitter. . .

Mixing borax solution into the glue water.  Still not all that excited.

"This is cool!"

The recipe made a BIG batch of gak, which is kind of like slime.  Ryan would only touch this little bit.

He did like throwing it around the kitchen . . it would bounce when it hit the floor/wall/fridge

Quote of the day:
When he went "number 2" this morning it was a little looser than what is normal for him.  He proceeds to tell me . . . "Mom, my p_ _ p is a little spicy this morning!"  Hmmmmm. . .

Goop, Day 3

Last night we left our goop out to see what it would be like in the morning.  Well, it was . . .

"GOOPIER".   Ryan would only stick the one finger in it.  It is a weird consistency.  It is solid, that turns to a liquid when you aren't putting pressure on it.  We have left it out again for tonight and we'll see what it is like tomorrow.

The train track now connects on both sides!

It is COLD and windy, but we went the park anyway.  Here he is riding his "Hot Rod".

Goop, trains, and magic

We started the day off making MORE goop.  Today we started with green.

And then changed it to blue.

All the while Ryan insisted on using a spoon -- he said he didn't want his hands to turn green again.

In the end he couldn't resist.  Green hands!

Then he and Daddy built this cool train track.  The track fell apart a couple of times during the course of the day and each time Ryan patiently fixed it by himself.  He never did connect it on the other side.  Not sure why. . .

This afternoon we went to the library for a show called "The Magic Toymaker's Christmas Show".  It was presented by a magician named Brett Roberts and was really neat.  He had magic tricks and puppetry that was set to music and he used lots of lights.  It was pretty neat.  Ryan loved the puppet who couldn't sing "Jingle Bells" the right way.  I am not sure that he understood a lot of the magic tricks -- he didn't seem to understand that it was unusual to pull a light out from behind somebody's ear.  He definitely liked the puppet though.

Frosty the Snowman, Part 2

It took Ryan a little while to remember about the snowman once he woke up yesterday morning.  Once he did he ran over to the back door and immediately noticed the note that the snowman had left saying that he would be back someday.  After reading the note he says to me, "But Mom, I want to SEE him running down the street!"  HA!  Now I just have to remember that a snowman needs to "return" when/if it snows again around here.

Other things we did . . .

Played trains . . . lots of trains.  Ryan is so excited about the trains one of his friends gave him.

Christmas Snow!

We have snow and it has lasted 3 days!  We have had a lot of fun playing in the snow.  We had snow ball fights, went sledding the Texan way (in a trash bag) and finally built a snowman!  Once we got outside this afternoon Ryan shed a few tears because the snow was almost gone.  Good thing it was finally wet enough to make a snowman because that saved the day . . . until we put his hat on and the snowman didn't move.  Ryan then insisted that I find a magic hat that would make the snowman move.  I told him that snowmen only move at night.  That bought me some time -- until tomorrow morning when he realizes that the snowman hasn't moved.  Here are some pictures. . .
